Welcome to CIU
The Canadian Institute of Underwriters is a long-standing association dedicated to the exchange of ideas on the current issues and challenges that our CIU members face in the field of underwriting. We are the largest life underwriting community in Canada, and our group of volunteers work very hard to provide valuable networking and educational opportunities to our members. The CIU team would like to thank each member for their loyalty, and our sponsors for their continuous support and commitment.

When you attend any of our events (online or in-person), please do not forget to log your credits in order to renew or obtain your certified FALU/certified professional underwriter designation.
Our Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of the CIU. They are a group of underwriters who are passionate about their career, and give their time, skills, and energy to enhancing the underwriting profession. The team takes on a variety of tasks, including in person and virtual event planning, budgeting/finances, technical support, and administration. Our volunteers serve as a positive example for their fellow underwriters, and hope to inspire others to get involved. Being a part of the CIU is a great opportunity to connect with and learn from a wider group of colleagues, a chance to give back to the underwriting community, and have some fun along the way!

Our Bylaws
We are pleased to share with you the updated Bylaws of CIU. These bylaws serve as the foundation, outlining how we operate, make decisions, and uphold the values that guide our community.
